No complex bidding, no opaque algorithms, and no recurring subscriptions. Here is a clear explanation with real examples.
Claiming a Spot on the Board
Every WordPress product (plugin, theme, hosting, or agency) gets its own square tile on the grid and a ranked row on the board. You pay a one-time fee to secure your spot.
Product 1 enters the board with a one-time payment of $100. Since nobody else has paid more, Product 1 claims Rank #1 on the board.
Rank is Dynamic (Amount Paid Decides Position)
Higher amounts rank higher. If another product pays at least $4 more than you, they take the spot above you, and your product gently shifts down by one rank. You are never kicked off the board!
Next week, Product 2 pays $104 to list. Product 2 becomes the new #1, and Product 1 moves to #2. Both products remain active on the board with full public click tracking.
Moving Up (You Only Pay the Difference)
When you want to improve your position and move higher up the board, you never pay from scratch. All previous payments stay permanently credited to your URL.
Product 1 wants to retake #1 from Product 2 ($104). Since Product 1 already paid $100, they only need to reach $108 total. They pay just $8 ($108 - $100) and immediately regain #1.
The $4 Rule (Why Multiples of $4?)
All spot fees and increments on WP Spots are strictly in multiples of $4 ($4, $8, $12, $16, $20...). This prevents annoying 1-cent outbidding wars and ensures every step up is meaningful and quantized.
Permanent Spot vs Dynamic Rank
Your spot is permanent (one-time payment, zero recurring bills, your link and tile never disappear). Your rank is dynamic (determined by where your cumulative payment sits compared to others). If you never pay another dollar, your product still remains on the board forever.
